Constitution Reader’s Theater Activity
Grades K–6
Help students build reading fluency while exploring one of the most important texts in American history: the Constitution.
Reader’s Theater provides students with an authentic reason to read and reread a text. This Reader’s Theater resource from Tim Rasinski uses repeated reading and performance to help students strengthen fluency while deepening their understanding of the Preamble to the Constitution.
The resource features a script that allows students to take on different roles, rehearse their parts, and perform for an audience, developing:
• Fluency through repeated reading
• Prosody through expressive oral reading
• Phrasing and pacing through rehearsal
• Confidence through performance
• Comprehension through meaningful historical content.
